Trading
Updated 28 September 2026, 4 min readThe Trade tab under the chart is where your open positions and pending orders live. Every number in it updates with the price, and you decide which columns it shows, how wide they are, and what note each trade carries. This guide goes through the table, the account line above it and trade comments.
The account line
Above the table, one line sums up the account: Balance, Equity, Margin, Free Margin, Margin Level and Open P/L. Open P/L is the total of all open positions right now. Margin Level turns red when it reaches your Broker's margin call level. On the iPhone and Android apps the same figures are tiles at the top of the Trade screen, and a warning appears there when the margin level runs low. What each figure means is in Balance, equity and margin.
Reading a position row
The table has two sections, Open Positions and Pending Orders. The columns you see at first are:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Symbol | The instrument, with the trade's comment underneath when the Comment column is hidden |
| Type | BUY or SELL, or the pending order type. A small T means a trailing stop is on |
| Volume | Lots |
| Price | The open price, or the order price for a pending order |
| SL and TP | The stop loss and take profit, or a dash when there is none |
| Current | The price the position would close at now: the bid for a buy, the ask for a sell |
| Profit | The result if you closed now, in your account currency, with swap and commission included |
Five more columns are off until you add them: Swap, Commission, Open Time, Duration and Comment. Duration counts up live in days, hours, minutes and seconds. Swap and commission are explained in Spreads, swaps and commissions.
Every row ends with Edit and Close for a position, or Edit and Cancel for a pending order. Closing is covered in Closing positions.
Choosing and sizing columns
Press Columns at the right end of the table header. A list of every column opens with a tick next to the ones showing. Click a column to show or hide it. Symbol is always on. Reset Columns at the bottom goes back to the standard set and the standard widths.
To change a width, drag the right edge of a column header. Double click that edge to return the one column to its standard width. The History tab has its own Columns button and remembers its own choice, so the two tables can look different.
Your columns and widths are saved in the browser you set them in. Another browser or computer starts with the standard layout.
The phone apps show each position as a card instead of a row: side and symbol, lots, the time it opened and how long it has been open, profit, and the open, current, SL and TP prices.
Trade comments
A comment is a note of up to 120 characters that stays with a trade from the order to the history. Use it for why you took the trade, the setup, or which plan it belongs to.
- On a new order, type it in the Comment field of the New Order ticket. It is optional.
- On an open position, press Edit and change the Comment field, then Save. You can add one later, change it, or clear it.
- On a pending order, it is in Modify Order. When the order fills, the position keeps the comment.
The phone apps have the same Comment field on the ticket and in Modify. On a phone the comment shows as a line on the position card.
After the trade closes, the comment is still there: in the History tab, in the Trade window you open by clicking a closed trade, and in the Comment column of the CSV export. See Trade history and CSV export.
Comments are part of the account, like the positions themselves. Anyone who signs in to it sees them, including someone using your investor password. Keep anything private out of them.
Trades opened by robots
A trade opened by a robot reads Robot under Opened By in its trade details. The exported statement has an Opened By column that says Manual or Robot for every trade.
