Apps
Updated 6 October 2026, 3 min readOn a Windows, Mac, Linux or ChromeOS computer, eTrader Web can live in your Dock or on your taskbar like any other program. It opens in its own window with the eTrader icon, without the browser's tabs and address bar around it, and it is the same terminal you use at terminal.etraderweb.com. Nothing is downloaded beyond what the browser already holds.
Who gets the install button
| Your device | What you get |
|---|---|
| Windows, Mac, Linux or ChromeOS, in Chrome or Edge | Install App in the terminal's top bar |
| Mac, in Safari | File, then Add to Dock |
| Any computer, in another browser | The terminal in the browser, with no install offer |
| iPhone | The App Store app |
| Android phone | The Google Play app |
A phone that opens terminal.etraderweb.com is sent to its store instead of the web terminal, because the phone apps are built for a small screen. A tablet opens the terminal in its browser as normal, without an install offer. On Windows, the installed web app gives eTrader its own window.
Install it
- Open terminal.etraderweb.com in Chrome or Edge on your computer.
- Press Install App in the top bar, to the left of the account chip. It only shows when your browser can install the terminal.
- The browser asks you to confirm. Confirm, and eTrader Web opens in its own window.
In Safari on a Mac there is no install button. Open terminal.etraderweb.com, choose File, then Add to Dock, and press Add. This needs macOS Sonoma or later.
Once installed, the button disappears, because there is nothing left to install. Open eTrader Web from the Start menu, the Dock, the taskbar, the app launcher or the shelf, depending on your system. Pin it where you like, the same as any other program.
Signing in
The installed app is the web terminal, so it signs in the same way: choose your Broker, then your Server, Login and password, or open a demo account. It keeps you signed in, so it opens straight to your charts next time.
Everything you do belongs to your trading account, so positions, orders and alerts are the same as on your phone. The find your Broker guide covers the sign-in screen in detail.
What changes, and what does not
What changes is the window. The terminal gets the whole window with no tabs above it, and it has its own entry when you switch programs. That makes a four chart layout on a big screen feel like a desk terminal. Layouts of up to four charts work exactly as in the browser; the chart layouts guide explains them.
What does not change is the terminal itself. It has the same features as the browser version and is always the current one, with nothing to update by hand.
Notifications work through the browser. If you allowed notifications for the terminal, the installed app shows fills, stops and price alerts the same way. The push notifications guide has the details.
Only the terminal installs
eTrader Web is the one eTrader app you can install on a computer. eTrader AI and eTrader Code run in a browser tab and do not offer Install App. Open them at ai.etraderweb.com and code.etraderweb.com. Your eTrader ID signs you in to both at once.
Remove it
An installed web app is removed the way your browser removes any installed app. In Chrome and Edge, open the app's own menu from the top of its window and choose to uninstall it. A Safari web app is removed by deleting it from the Applications folder in your home folder. Removing the app does not touch your trading account, your positions or your alerts, and the terminal is still at terminal.etraderweb.com in the browser.
