Your own AI Bot in eTrader AI

Wire blocks into a flow, choose the models it asks, set its limits and switch it on per account.

In short

  • eTrader AI is at ai.etraderweb.com. It signs in with your eTrader ID, the same sign-in as eTrader Code.
  • AI blocks run on your own model key, saved under Integrations.
  • A flow wakes on a trigger, reads data, asks a model and acts through Buy, Sell or trade blocks.
  • Each account has its own switch, its own mode and its own limits.
  • Max lots per order and max daily loss are checked on every order, whatever the blocks say.
  • API and MCP lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor work with your AI Bots, with a key you create.

Robots and AI

eTrader AI lets you build an AI Bot from blocks instead of code. You drag blocks onto a canvas, wire them together, and decide what the trader reads, which AI model it asks, what it is allowed to do and how much it may risk. Then you switch it on for one or more of your trading accounts. It is at ai.etraderweb.com, and it needs a computer with a mouse or trackpad.

Before you start

Sign in with your eTrader ID: your email address and a 6-digit code sent to it. There is no password. It is one sign-in: if you are already signed in to eTrader Code or the ID page in this browser, eTrader AI opens signed in, and signing out of one signs you out of all.

Every AI block runs on a model from a provider you choose, with your own key. Open Integrations and paste a key for at least one provider: Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT), xAI (Grok), Google (Gemini) or DeepSeek. Each key is tested with the provider as soon as you save it, and it is never shown again. The provider bills the model calls to your key.

Create an AI Bot

On the AI Bots page, press New AI Bot. Give it a name and choose how to begin:

  • Start from the gold example: a finished flow that checks gold every 15 minutes, reads the news, recalls past sessions and asks a model to decide BUY, SELL or WAIT. It is the quickest way to see how the blocks fit together.
  • Empty canvas: start with nothing and add your own blocks.

Import .etai opens an AI Bot saved as a file, and Export in the builder saves one.

The blocks

The builder has the block list on the left, the canvas in the middle and the settings of the selected block on the right. Search the list with Find a block, and drag a block in or click it to drop it on the canvas.

A typical flow reads left to right: a trigger wakes the trader, data blocks gather the price and the news, Decide asks a model for BUY, SELL or WAIT with a confidence and a reason, Branch on decision sends the flow down the matching path, risk blocks check the size and the limits, and a Buy or Sell block places the order with its stop loss and one take profit. Decide has an Only act above this confidence setting, so a hesitant answer does nothing.

Manage open trades does the same for trades already open. For each one, a model picks HOLD, CLOSE, BREAKEVEN, TRAIL or PARTIAL, and Branch on trade action routes it to the block that carries it out.

Close this trader's trades closes only what this AI Bot opened. Your other trades are never touched.

eTrader News reads the headlines of the terminal's News tab, and Trading Calendar the events of its Calendar tab. Neither needs a model key.

Webhook wakes the AI Bot when a request reaches its own URL, shown in the block's panel. The request needs an API key with the Webhook scope (see API and MCP below). Send Webhook posts a JSON message to a URL you set.

With no block selected, the panel on the right lists anything that Needs attention, such as a block that is not connected or a model with no key. When every block is connected and has what it needs, it says so. Press Save when you are done.

Put it on an account

Press Accounts in the builder. If you have not connected a trading account yet, press Connect Account, choose your Broker and Server, and enter the Login and password. They are checked once and never stored.

For each account:

  1. Tick Use to put the AI Bot on the account.
  2. Choose the mode: Trade places orders, Signals only sends each trade idea as a notification instead. See Trade or Signals only.
  3. Open Limits and set them if you want tighter ones than your Broker's (below).
  4. Flip the switch to on and confirm.

Each account has its own switch, so the same AI Bot can trade one account and send signals on another. The switch stays off until the AI Bot is saved and nothing needs attention, so the version that runs is the version you see. If an account shows Off by Broker, that Broker has not allowed AI trading on it.

In Signals only, Also Post to Telegram Bot sends each signal to your Telegram chat as well. Connect the bot first, under Integrations, Telegram Bot.

You can do the same from the terminal. Sign in to the trading account in eTrader Web, press the account chip and choose Bots. The AI Bots tab lists your AI Bots with Add to This Account, Start and Stop, and Settings for the mode and the limits. Running bots in the cloud has the steps.

Limits the platform enforces

Whatever the blocks say, the platform checks every order an AI Bot places against two limits per account:

  • Max Lots per Order.
  • Max Daily Loss (%). Once the account is down that much on the day, the AI Bot opens no new trades. Daily loss counts from the balance at 00:00 UTC, open trades included.

Leave a field empty to use your Broker's limit. A value you set can only be tighter than the Broker's, never looser. A looser value is refused when you save, with a message that gives the Broker's maximum. The confirmation you see when you switch the AI Bot on repeats the limits that will apply.

These sit on top of the risk blocks inside the flow. A Daily loss limit or Position limit block stops the flow itself. The account limits stop the order even if the flow is built wrongly.

API and MCP

API and MCP, in the top bar of eTrader AI, connects an AI app to your eTrader ID. It has ready setups for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and ChatGPT. The app can then list, create and edit your AI Bots, put them on accounts, read their activity, and work with your eTrader Code files, the compiler and the strategy tester. It can also read the news headlines and the economic calendar.

  1. Under Create Key, name the key and turn on MCP, Webhook or both. Tick Can Trade only if the app should trade. Choose when it Expires: Never, 30 days or 90 days.
  2. Press Create Key and type the 6-digit code sent to your email.
  3. Copy the key. It is shown once.
  4. Under Connect, pick your app, copy its setup with your key in it, paste it into the app and restart the app.
  5. Ask the app to list your AI Bots to check it works.

A key without Can Trade cannot place or close trades, switch an AI Bot on, add it to an account or delete anything. With Can Trade, every order goes through the same account limits as any AI Bot order, and a key places at most 10 orders an hour. On an account in Signals only, an order becomes a signal. The app can only close positions that the AI Bot opened.

An eTrader ID holds up to 20 keys. The list shows when each key was last used. Revoke stops a key at once, and it cannot be undone.

Turning it off

Flip the account's switch to off, or press Stop on it in the terminal's Bots window. The AI Bot stops trading that account. Stop All Bots in the terminal switches off every AI Bot on that account. Deleting an AI Bot stops it on every account it runs on. In both cases, trades it already opened stay open on the account until you close them or they reach their stop loss or take profit.

If a run fails, for example because a model key stopped working, the AI Bot tries again after 30 seconds, then waits longer each time. After five failed runs in a row it is Paused on that account and you get a notification with the reason. Fix the cause, then press Resume on the account in Accounts.

An AI Bot follows the flow you build and the answers the models give. Neither is a forecast. Run it in Signals only mode or on a demo account first. Leveraged trading carries a high risk of loss.

Questions

Does eTrader AI need my trading password every time?

No. You connect an account once with its Login and password. They are checked once and never stored.

Can I make the AI Bot send ideas instead of trading?

Yes. Set the account to Signals only. Each trade idea arrives as a notification and nothing is placed.

What stops an AI Bot from taking too much risk?

The platform checks every order against the account's max lots per order and max daily loss. Empty fields use your Broker's limits, and your own values can only be tighter.

What happens to open trades if I delete an AI Bot?

They stay open. Deleting it stops it on every account, but trades it already opened are left for you to manage.

Why can I not switch it on?

Save your changes and fix anything listed under Needs attention. If the account shows Off by Broker, that Broker has not allowed AI trading on it.

Can Claude or ChatGPT manage my AI Bots?

Yes, over MCP. Create an API key under API and MCP in eTrader AI, then add the eTrader server to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor. Without Can Trade the key cannot place or close trades, switch a bot on or delete anything.
