eTrader on iPhone, Android and the web

Where to get each app, what each one does, how push notifications work and how one account stays in step across all of them.

In short

  • The browser terminal at terminal.etraderweb.com needs nothing installed and has every feature.
  • It runs on any computer, Mac included, and installs as a web app.
  • The iPhone app is on the App Store and the Android app is on Google Play.
  • The phone apps sign in to demo accounts. Live accounts trade in the browser terminal.
  • One account, every device: a position opened on the phone is in the browser a second later.
  • Push notifications for fills, stops, targets, closes and price alerts can be switched on or off by group.

eTrader is one account on every screen. The terminal in the browser, the iPhone app and the Android app all sign in with the same Broker Login, and they show the same positions, orders, history and price alerts. Pick the one that fits the screen in front of you. Nothing is lost by switching.

The browser terminal

terminal.etraderweb.com is the full terminal with nothing to install. It runs in Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox, on a computer or a tablet, and it holds every feature: the chart with its indicators and drawings, the order ticket, orders on the chart, up to four charts per screen, market depth, price alerts, history export, your own indicators, the Bots window for your AI Bots and bots, and the account settings.

On a phone, the same address sends you to the eTrader app for that phone instead of opening the terminal. The phone apps are built for a small screen and the browser version was not.

On a computer, Chrome and Edge show an Install App button in the top bar of the terminal. That works on Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS. It puts eTrader in your app list with its own window and icon, still with no download. In Safari on a Mac, choose File, then Add to Dock. The install the web app guide has the steps.

eTrader Code and eTrader AI

eTrader Code, the editor for your own robots and indicators, is at code.etraderweb.com. eTrader AI is at ai.etraderweb.com. Both run in any desktop browser, Mac included. They run in a browser tab; only the terminal installs as a web app. Each signs in with your eTrader ID rather than a Broker Login.

iPhone and Android

The iPhone app is on the App Store and the Android app is on Google Play. Search for eTrader, or use the links on the eTrader home page. Install it, open it, and sign in with a demo account, or open a new demo in the app. The phone apps work with demo accounts, including a firm's own demo Server. A live account from your Broker trades in the browser terminal. See sign in problems if the app turns an account away.

Both phone apps share one layout, built for one hand: a tab bar for Market Watch, the chart, Trading and your account, a full screen chart when the phone turns sideways, and a trade ticket that slides up from the bottom. Stop loss and take profit drag on the chart with a finger. The drawing tools and indicators are the same as the web, with the settings in sheets.

Push notifications arrive on the phone for fills, stops, targets, closes and price alerts. The push notifications guide explains which switches decide what reaches your phone.

One account, every device

Your trades belong to the trading account, not to the device. Open a position on the phone on the way in and it is in the browser when you sit down. Change a stop loss anywhere and every screen redraws it. Pending orders, trade history and price alerts follow the account the same way.

Chart setup is kept by each device. The chart type, timeframe, indicators, drawings and colours you choose in one browser stay in that browser, and each phone keeps its own. Set up each screen once and it remembers you from then on.

The terminal also lets you hold more than one trading account at once. Connect Another Account, in the Accounts sheet, adds a second Login, from the same Broker or a different one, and you switch between them from the same place. The Accounts sheet shows the balance and equity of each, and Sign out this account removes one without touching the others.

Staying signed in

The app keeps you signed in, so it opens straight to your charts. To sign out on any device, open the account menu and choose Sign Out. A demo account you opened yourself can also be deleted from Settings, together with its balance, positions and history.

Which one to use

At a desk, the browser terminal, or the web app you installed from it. It takes a four chart layout and a second screen. On the move, the iPhone or Android app. And when you are on someone else's computer, the browser terminal, and sign out when you finish. They are the same terminal, so nothing you learn in one is wasted in another.

Questions

Do I need a different Login for each app?

No. Every app signs in with the same Broker, Server, account number and password. The phone apps take demo accounts only; a live account signs in on the web.

Can I use the terminal in my phone's browser?

No. On a phone, terminal.etraderweb.com sends you to the App Store or Google Play instead. Tablets and computers get the full terminal in the browser.

Is there a Windows app?

No. Windows users run the terminal in the browser, and in Chrome and Edge the terminal offers Install App, which puts it in the Start menu with its own window.

Can I be signed in on two devices at once?

Yes. Sign in on a computer and on the phone and both stay connected. An order placed on either one appears on the other at once.
